Slashdotted!!
Unfortunately our previous website address of brecontownband.co.uk was 'slashdotted' from us and so we have now become brecontownband.com

If the person(s) who took the name would like to hand it back to us, we would be very grateful as the band relies upon its links to other sites to advertise ourselves and attract new players

Welcome

Brecon Town Concert Band is a community based wind band that has been in existence since 1967 when it was last reformed - a group of music loving individuals from all walks of life that simply enjoy the great pleasure of making live music together. The bands membership varies from around 30 to 50, and has members in all the age ranges. The records show that there has been a band in Brecon since 1897 when the band first performed an inaugural concert outside 'The Fountain' where Lloyds TSB bank is situated today.

A charitable organisation, the band plays at both indoor and outdoor events throughout the year, and will normally perform between 20 and 30 times, mainly for local charities, churches and other worthwhile groups. Most of the music performed outdoors has a strong rhythmic beat. It regularly plays for the Brecon Show - the oldest agricultural show in the country, and the Victorian Festival in Llandrindod Wells. Regular Saturday morning performances during the Spring and Summer months are given in Bethel Square in Brecon, where the band also performs carols in the weeks before Christmas

Following a performance at the Victorian Festival in Llandrindod Wells in 1998, the band was invited to perform in Holland at an International Band Festival. The band gave three performances at the Festival in 1999, and has continued to forge links with the host band ( the KNA Kouderkerke a/d Rihn Band ).

A further visit was made in 2001 with a combined concert being performed. The Holland band visited Brecon in September 2002 when a combined concert was performed in Theatr Brycheiniog. We continued our association with the KNA Band with a Summer 2003 tour to Holland where a number of performances were given at venues including Valkenburg, Maastricht, and Amsterdam.

Brecon Town Concert Band were the guests of Disneyland Paris during 2006 where the band performed as part of the Wales in Wonderland Festival. The band has also just returned from a tour to Belgium in July 2007, where we played at Brugges, Ypres and Antwerp
